This is one of eight pieces that depict what appear to be partially completed. All eight pieces were of young women who were at the beginning of their adult lives, in a state of becoming, and I wanted to capture that aspect of who they were. I chose to use partially primed canvases, then do pencil sketches and then, with this piece, use oil crayons to depict the art also in a state of becoming. I wanted these pieces to also be in a state of becoming, just as these your women were at the time. This piece is one only two of the eight that remain in my possession.
